I am so happy that I have to share it with you:
The Mars Volta will be on tour this summer!! Yeah baby!

For those who don’t know this great band:
The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock band formed in 2001 by Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, after their previous band, At The Drive In, split up.

 

The Mars Volta is one of the most talented and creative bands of its generation.
Their music is a large mix between punk, psychedelic rock, alternative, jazz and Latin influence, using a polyrhythm technique, which offers them an original, incredible and unpredictable wild sound.

Despite the music that I found absolutely awesome, I also love the band for the genius singer, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, who has, I think, one of the most beautiful voice and whose lyrics are just mind-blowing!

The band has already (officially) released four albums:
- De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003)
- Frances the Mute (2005)
- Amputechture (2006)
- The Bedlam in Goliath (2007/2008)

The new album will be released soon!

SOUTH CENTRAL #1

SOUTH CENTRAL is an experimental electro punk band from Brighton, UK.

Like Soulwax and 2 Many DJ, SOUTH CENTRAL is a band with 2 Dj sometimes performing on their own.

Influenced by Kraftwerk, Orbital, Joy Division, Korn and Chemical Brothers, South Central became well known by mixing for bands such as Shychild, Sunshine Underground and The Maccabees.

Supporting Prodigy on their Parisian concert last week, the band, who has already played with the great Pendulum, made a huge impression on the audience by warming them up with their indie/punk/electro mix.
The crowd has been going mental and the band is already considered as the new Justice!

NAOSOL & THE WAXX BLEND

Sometimes, you’re having a bad day, everything is wrong, and you feel like the world is playing a tricky game to make you going mental!

That is quite the story of my day!

And while I was torn between listening to very sad songs like Elliott Smith or really angry music like Machine Head, I discover this new band: Naosol & The Waxx Blend.

It was like a rainbow just appears in my so sad day!
That’s the magic of music!!

Why - Naosol & the Waxx Blend

Naosol & The Waxx Blend is a french folk rock band, produced by the community social label, Spidart.

The songs, full of a sweet melancholy, sound like a summer day with a perfect blue sky, where time stands still… It transports you the same way and in the same place you are transported when you listen to Jack Johnson, Finley Quaye or John Mayer.

Thanks to Internet users who find the band talented enough to produces them, Naosol & the Waxx Blend will launch their 1st EP, “1968”, on March, 30th.

 

The band will also be playing on stage on May 11th at La Boule Noire, Paris.

So if you had a bad day too, just listen to Naosol & The Waxx Blend and believe me everything will be fine again!

STEREOLIVE #1

I met the band last year while they were performing on stage, at La Fleche d’Or (Paris) with the British alternative rock band Air Traffic.

I was stunned to hear how good these kids are.
They have got everything we are looking for in a good pop rock band: vitamin and punchy melodies, original songs and a real wild energy on stage.

Everything about STEREOLIVE’s music makes you want to dance!

I can’t get enough

 

Based in Paris, STEREOLIVE is composed by: Etienne (Guitar), Quentin (vocals, guitar), Louis (Drums) and Mael (Bass).

Clearly inspired by pop rock and indie rock bands like: The Kinks, The Jam or Fratellis, Arctic Monkeys… the songs are catchy, balancing from nervous and garage riffs to slow pace acoustic melodies!

If you want to have a look to the new French KOOKS (no offense guys!), the band will be on Parisian stages on March: `
- 12th at Le Backstage
- 14th at La Maroquinerie
- 26th at Le Klub

They will also play a gig in London, at the Cafe 1001 in Brick Lane, on April 25th.
I’m pretty sure Londoners will love the band and will be quite surprised by the Froggies!!

AMAZING BABY

I can tell you right now, this band is the NEXT BIG THING!!!

Amazing Baby is a psychedelic pop rock band from Brooklyn.
The line-up is composed by Will Roan (vocals), Simon O'Connor (guitar).

Largely inspired by glam rock and 80’s, the catchy songs transport you in a glitter, sparkling but somehow dark and secret New York!

Supported by MGMT, the band is actually touring in Europe, and they will be performing on stage in April with Cold War Kids in US.

NME and ROLLING STONE are completely fond of this band, I hope you will be too!

MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE

MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE (also called MSI or MINDLESS) is an American electropunk band based in New York City.

Formed in 1997, by Jimmy (vocals), Steve (guitar), Kitty (drums) and Lyn-Z (bass), their music mixed electronica, punk and industrial metal.

 

 

This band is difficult to classify, it can sound weird, but I think they are brilliant.

GHINZU

Based in Brussels, Ghinzu is an indie rock band formed in 1999 by 5 friends: John (Vocals), Mika (Bass), Greg (Guitar), Jean (Piano), Tony (Drums).

The 1st album, Electronic Jacuzzi, was released in 2000, followed by the very successful album Blow in 2004 with the great single Do You Read Me?

But I would like you to also listen to my favourite song from this album: The Dragster-Wave

Good news for Ghinzu’s fan, the band is coming back with a new album, Mirror Mirror, on March 30th 2009 and they will be on tour soon.

COCONUT RECORDS

I love this band!

Based in Los Angeles, Coconut Record is a solo project by Jason Schwartzman, ex Phantom Planet’s drummer, which began in 2006.
The 1st album, Nighttiming, was released in 2007, and the 2nd one, Davy, in January, 2009.

Schwartzman, mostly known as an actor, proves how talented he is in music too: he plays most of the instruments himself and also produces his own album on his label Young Baby Records.

It sounds a little bit like Phoenix, with it’s lovely and catchy pop songs you’re humming all day long.
The new album « Davy » magically transports you in a sunny and warm place in California.
